Latest news
Design documents finalized, bids expected in September
Connolly & Hickey Historical Architects have qualified several potential construction firms and are finalizing the design and contract documents that will be included in the request to bid the project. We expect to receive bids and select a contractor in September 2026.
The Library Board has signed and returned the New Jersey Historic Trust grant agreement and is awaiting final approval of the paperwork, which is necessary before construction can start. We expect construction to begin in October 2026.
You can still borrow, request, print, and read
While the building is closed, limited in-person service moves to the Christian Education Building in Oldwick. Here is what carries on.
Books & media
A limited selection of new books and DVDs for adults, teens, and children will be on hand. Most of our collection goes into storage, but inter-library loan keeps running.
Holds & pick-ups
Browse the Hunterdon County catalog, request anything from the whole MAIN system, and collect it at our temporary location.
Printing & Wi-Fi
Black-and-white and color printing, a copier-scanner, and public Wi-Fi for your own laptop or tablet.
Storytime
Storytime continues outdoors at the new location until late October. Regular community group meetings cannot be hosted in the pop-up space.

This restoration is funded in part by a $430,213 matching grant from the New Jersey Historic Trust. Phase 3 — interior furnishings, shelving, finishes, lighting, and technology — is still being funded.
